Abigail “Abbey” Kapitan has dedicated her career to civil defense litigation in Illinois. She defends against wrongful death claims and allegations against correctional facilities and corporations. She also represents clients in matters related to premises liability, automobile accident defense, civil rights disputes, and fire and explosion litigation. Abbey is dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation, working closely with clients to understand their unique needs and advocate for their interests.
Prior to joining Kopka Pinkus Dolin, she was a Legal Intern at the Lake County Superior Court in Indiana and at Indiana University Health. She then joined KPD as a legal apprentice where she drafted memos, briefs and assisted with research and reviewing files as needed.
During law school, Abbey served as an Articles Editor for the Indiana Law Journal and Research Assistant for Professor Aviva Orenstein. She was also involved with the Intellectual Property Association, Chiefs in Intellectual Property (ChIPs), and volunteered at Incarcerated Individuals Legal Assistance Program.
Abbey enjoys Notre Dame football, true crime documentaries, and playing with her cat, Peanut.
