Shirley is a civil litigator with both in-house and outside counsel experience in insurance defense, municipal law, and government entity liability. She has experience representing transportation companies, railroads, schools, villages, park districts, police officers, as well as housing authorities.
She has been practicing law for nearly 20 years and focuses on all areas of insurance defense, tort litigation and immunity, municipal law and government-entity liability, premises liability, dram shop, motor vehicle liability, civil rights, FELA cases, and employment law. She has experience in trial litigation and appellate practice with both in-house and outside counsel knowledge giving her a unique perspective when working with clients.
Shirley is a skilled at consistently obtaining favorable outcomes in trial verdicts, arbitrations, summary judgment, dispositive and directed verdict motions, and has had great success in defending large catastrophic case settlements and mediations.
Shirley has represented a wide range of clients including transportation companies, railroads, schools, villages, park districts, police officers, and numerous nationally known insurance companies.
Shirley graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana (B.A. in Speech Communications and Political Science) and received a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan.
